Product Description
The Wunder Audio CM7-GTS (Glass Tube Switchable) is the latest evolution of the CM7-GT. The main difference is that this mic has the "Hard Switched" cardioid mode that is found in a CM7 or vintage U47. This mode produces a smoother more full bodied sound. Instead of having a switch on the outside of the grill, we employed a silent relay inside the capsule compartment. The pattern switch is still on the PSU, but the actual switch point in the circuit is directly below the capsule compartment. St the same time, it still has the 8 different polar patterns found in the older CM7-GT so it is like two mics in one! Those with older CM7-GT microphones can have a GTS upgrade done at our Wunder Audio shop.
The CM7-GTS uses a NOS Telefunken glass tube, which replaced the VF14/EF14 in 1960-1979. The CM7-GT has 9 patterns selectable from the PSU. The CM7-GTS Circuit is basically the same as the CM7 with extra circuitry added to achieve the remote patterns. The CM7-GTS use a PCB. The critical high impedance parts are assembled point to point. It also uses the same custom wound "large style" Neumann U47 transformer that we use in the CM7. The CM7-GTS uses the identical grille setup as the original U47 and the CM7. The connector at the bottom a 3/4 size Tuchel connector used on the U67/M269.
The Wunder CM7-GTS microphone system comes complete with:
- NOS Vintage Telefunken glass tube
- New M7 capsule
- Historically accurate "large style" BV8 transformer
- Newly designed power supply made in the U.S.A.
- Tube mic cable
- Wooden microphone box
- Tweed carrying case
- 1-year warranty
"The CM7 GT…is quite possibly the best vocal mic I have ever heard. I love it. I imagine the only thing better is the real CM7."
