The Xylophone consists of wooden bars of various lengths that are arranged according to their pitch in scales, very similar to the keys of a piano. Additionally, the modern orchestra xylophone has resonator tubes for each bar, at a range of four octaves. Compared to the marimbaphone, the xylophone has a higher (and narrower) range and its bars are made of a harder wood, resulting in a brighter and more penetrating timbre. In orchestral arrangements, the xylophone commonly emphasizes certain parts of a melodic line in forte or fortissimo. The instrument was played with different mallets: soft, medium, and hard plastic mallets, wood mallets, yarn-wound mallets and cluster mallets.

Sample Content:

Wood Mallet: Rolls strong dynamics, 0.5., 1, and 3 sec / Glissandos fast, medium, and slow, diatonic and chromatic / Cross glissandos fast and medium

Soft Plastic Mallet: Glissandos fast, medium, and slow, diatonic and chromatic / Cross glissandos fast and medium

Medium Plastic Mallet: Single notes / Rolls / Glissandos fast, medium, and slow, diatonic and chromatic / Cross glissandos fast and medium

Hard Plastic Mallet: Single notes / Rolls / Glissandos fast, medium, and slow, diatonic and chromatic / Cross glissandos fast and medium

Yarn Mallet: Single notes / Rolls

Cluster Mallet: Cluster mallets / Single hits and tremolo / Diatonic, chromatic, and pentatonic

System Requirements:

PC Windows 7/8/10 (latest update, 32/64-bit), Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2

Mac OS X 10.8 (latest update) or higher, Intel Core 2 Duo

2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)

VIENNA KEY (Vienna Symphonic Library USB protection device) or other USB eLicenser (e.g., from Steinberg or Arturia)

554.5 MB free hard drive space for the Standard Library, 554.5 MB for the Full Library

Recommended:

Windows 7/8/10 (latest update, 64-bit), Intel i5/i7/Xeon

Mac OS X 10.9 (or higher), Intel i5/i7/Xeon

4 GB RAM

SSD or fast separate hard drive (7200 rpm or faster)

AU/VST/AAX Native/RTAS compatible host (also works stand-alone)

RTAS version requires Pro Tools 7.3 or higher

AAX version requires Pro Tools 10.3.5 or higher

88 key master keyboard

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0658/8848/5479/files/vienna-symphonic-xylophone_63504_1_1_b401af9a-9ed6-4da8-b29a-1ece0f63f2be.jpg?v=1787091350
