The Viennese oboe, which is played exclusively in Vienna, has retained its particular sound and form since the time of Viennese Classicism and developed independently of the French oboe. The bell of the Viennese oboe is bell-shaped while that of the French oboe is gently flared. The French oboe has a very assertive sound that can distinctly be heard in the orchestra, whereas the Viennese oboe tends to blend in more with the overall sound. Vibrato, one of the desirable techniques on the French oboe, is not usual in the Viennese style.

Sample Content:

SHORT + LONG NOTES: Staccato / Portato short / Sustained with progressive and without vibrato / Portato medium / Portato long with vibrato / Portato long without vibrato, normal and soft attack

DYNAMICS: Fortepiano and sforzato without vibrato / Strong dynamics with vibrato, 3 and 5 sec / Medium dynamics without vibrato, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6 sec / Strong dynamics without vibrato, 4 and 6 sec / pfp without vibrato, 3, 4, 6, 8 sec / fpf without vibrato, 4 and 6 sec / Sforzatissimo without vibrato

FLATTER + TRILLS: Flutter tonguing normal and crescendo / Trills normal, minor and major 2nd / Dynamics for all trills

PERF INTERVAL FAST: Legato / Marcato

PERF TRILL: Trills, legato, minor 2nd to major 3rd

PERF REPETITION: Legato slow / Portato fast / Staccato fast / Legato medium and fast / Portato slow and medium / Staccato slow / Dynamics for all repetitions

PERF INTERVAL: Legato, without vibrato / Grace notes, legato, minor 2nd to octave / Marcato

PERF UPBEAT REPETITION: 1 and 2 upbeats / Slow and fast / Normal and dynamics

GRACE NOTES: Grace notes / Minor 2nd to octave / Up and down

SCALE RUNS: Octave runs / Legato major, C to B key / Legato minor, C to B key / Chromatic and whole tone / Up and down

ARPEGGIOS: Arpeggios, legato / Diminished, major from C to B key / Up and down / 2 speeds for all

MORDENTS: Mordents, legato / Up and down / 6 variations each

System Requirements:

PC Windows 7/8/10 (latest update, 32/64-bit), Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2

Mac OS X 10.8 (latest update) or higher, Intel Core 2 Duo

2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)

VIENNA KEY (Vienna Symphonic Library USB protection device) or other USB eLicenser (e.g., from Steinberg or Arturia)

944.6 MB free hard drive space for the Standard Library, 944.6 MB for the Full Library

Recommended:

Windows 7/8/10 (latest update, 64-bit), Intel i5/i7/Xeon

Mac OS X 10.9 (or higher), Intel i5/i7/Xeon

4 GB RAM

SSD or fast separate hard drive (7200 rpm or faster)

AU/VST/AAX Native/RTAS compatible host (also works stand-alone)

RTAS version requires Pro Tools 7.3 or higher

AAX version requires Pro Tools 10.3.5 or higher

88 key master keyboard

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0658/8848/5479/files/vienna-viennese-oboe-1_e9e1e24a-1d11-4011-8596-dcfbaa9cbfbf.jpg?v=1787091389
