Like the oboe and the English horn, the oboe d’amore (hautbois d’amour/oboe of love) is a double-reed woodwind instrument, covering the mezzo soprano register. The term “d’amore” dates from the Renaissance period and is based on the instrument’s warm, lyrical, and mellow sound character that is more comparable with the French horn than the oboe. The instrument is slightly larger (longer) than the oboe and has a distinctive, pear-shaped bell. Although it was commonly used in the Baroque era, the instrument was gradually displaced by the English horn and the oboe.

Sample Content:

SHORT + LONG NOTES: Staccato / Portato short / Sustained with and without vibrato

DYNAMICS: pfp with vibrato, 2 and 4 sec / Fortepiano and sforzato with vibrato

FLATTER: Flutter tonguing, normal and crescendo

PERF INTERVAL: Legato

PERF INTERVAL FAST: Legato

PERF REPETITION: Legato / Portato / Staccato

FAST REPETITION: Staccato, 150, 170, 180 BPM

System Requirements:

PC Windows 7/8/10 (latest update, 32/64-bit), Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2

Mac OS X 10.8 (latest update) or higher, Intel Core 2 Duo

2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)

VIENNA KEY (Vienna Symphonic Library USB protection device) or other USB eLicenser (e.g., from Steinberg or Arturia)

1.5 GB free hard drive space for the Standard Library, 1.5 GB for the Full Library

Recommended:

Windows 7/8/10 (latest update, 64-bit), Intel i5/i7/Xeon

Mac OS X 10.9 (or higher), Intel i5/i7/Xeon

4 GB RAM

SSD or fast separate hard drive (7200 rpm or faster)

AU/VST/AAX Native/RTAS compatible host (also works stand-alone)

RTAS version requires Pro Tools 7.3 or higher

AAX version requires Pro Tools 10.3.5 or higher

88 key master keyboard

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0658/8848/5479/files/vienna-oboe-damore-1_419406fa-9f26-4f6b-8dd5-0e1d76e62ae4.jpg?v=1787091392
