Product Description
The Slate Digital ML-1 is a large diaphragm condenser microphone, and the first microphone released in the company’s award-winning Virtual Microphone System line. It was designed in tandem with the VMS-One preamp to provide an extremely flat, neutral output for feeding into Slate’s modeling software, which faithfully recreates the response, coloration, saturation and phase characteristics of each mic in the plug-in suite.
The Virtual Microphone System line enables engineers to experiment with vocals and even “change mics” in the mixing stage just by changing a plug-in. So even if you have a small vocal production or VO studio you can now have the equivalent of a locker of expensive, iconic mics with the ML-1. And if you’re lucky enough to have access to a studio with the original mic models the ML-1 emulates, the ML-1 can become a valuable tool that cuts pre-production time by enabling you to virtually audition mics.
The Slate Digital ML-1 comes as a black shock-mounted Mylar capsule sputtered in gold with custom-made components.
