Product Description
The Schoeps CMC 15 Microphone Stereo Set is a complete omni/cardioid condenser microphone set including a two CMC 1 amplifiers with MK 5 switchable omnidirectional/cardioid capsules, pop screens, clamps and wooden box.
CMC 1 AMPLIFIER
The CMC 1 is Schoeps' small Colette microphone amplifier, about one-third the size and 40% lighter than the CMC 6. It is compatible with all components of the Colette system and can be used in place of the CMC 6 without compromise, for all applications in which the size and weight of the microphone play a role.
At SCHOEPS, “uncompromising miniaturization” means that the electrical characteristics of the CMC 1 are equal to, or even better than, those of the CMC 6.
MK 5 CAPSULE
With the Schoeps MK 5, pattern switching is purely mechanical via a sliding lever on the side of the capsule. The result in each setting is like an independent microphone capsule with the same quality as the MK 2S / MK 4, and very similar (though not identical) frequency and polar response characteristics. In contrast to most dual-diaphragm microphones, the cardioid setting of the MK 5 maintains its directivity even at the lowest frequencies, and has high frequency response up to 20 kHz. In addition, the MK 5 has excellent low-frequency response in the omnidirectional setting along with the low sensitivity toward wind, vocal “popping” noise and solid-borne sound typical of pressure transducers.
The MK 5 is nearly an all-purpose capsule. It is what we recommend for those starting out with the Colette series, unless particular circumstances (such as the need for greater directivity or a bidirectional pattern) would indicate a different choice.
(Please note: The pattern selector should be definitely set to one position or the other; in-between settings will yield undefined results.)
FEATURES:
- Mechanical switching between omnidirectional and cardioid patterns
- True one-diaphragm system (unique on the microphone market)
- Pure pressure transducer in the omni setting; pressure gradient transducer in the cardioid setting
- Can be used in nearly any situation; often suggested as an initial acquisition - popular with training institutes
SCHOEPS COLETTE
The Colette series was introduced back in 1973 and has since been made up of mutually compatible modules that are constantly being updated and supplemented. No other microphone system has been on the market for such a long time. The Colette series invented the modularity in microphone technology and is considered more than ever before to be the best small-diaphragm microphone system.
Microphones from the modular Colette series are comprised of a microphone capsule screwed onto an amplification unit. Any capsule can be combined with any amplifier. Active accessories can be inserted between capsule and amplifier if desired. The RC active extension tube in particular graces many high-profile events with its stylish appearance. Due to its modular nature, the Colette system offers a large variety of options, for a wide range of use cases.
