Product Description

Schoeps is known as a manufacturer of high-quality, small-diaphragm microphones which are a standard in studio recording. Now SCHOEPS is introducing the VSR 5, a top-class studio microphone preamplifier. It offers analog circuit technology at the SCHOEPS level of quality.

  • Two "Schoeps Core SVM" Amplifier Modules with balanced, electronically
  • floating Inputs
  • +48 VDC phantom power (switchable)
  • 0 to 60 dB rotary gain controls in 3 db steps
  • State-of-the-Art RF Filters
  • 2 x 2 electronically floating balanced outputs
  • Mains Supply 115/230 VAC
  • 19" Rackmount - 2U
  • 10.34 lbs.

This preamplifier excels with its wide dynamic range and extremely low distortion. It has a “dual mono” arrangement overall, with two independent knobs to set the gain in 3 dB steps.

Two amplifier modules form the heart of the VSR 5. For a number of years their circuit has been our in-house reference for testing microphones, so it seemed only logical to make it available to our customers as well. It was inspired by the legendary “TransAmp LZ” modules from Valley People, long recognized for being especially low-noise but by using up-to-date components, SCHOEPS has outdone the original in terms of sonic transparency.

The VSR 5 is Schoeps’ first 19" rack-mount unit, conceived specifically for use in the studio. The choice of operating controls has been deliberately limited to essentials: switches for phantom powering, polarity reverse and mute, plus three different low-cut filters.
