schoeps-ccm-4vxp-k
Schoeps CCM 4VXP K Side-Address Cardioid Compact Condenser Microphone

The Schoeps CCM 4VXP is a cardioid microphone, with its main axis along its side, improving speech intelligibility in very loud environments.

It is designed for the very closest speech pickup, i.e. directly in front of the speaker’s mouth. Its low-frequency rolloff is compensated by proximity effect. Thus it has (up to the point of its high-frequency emphasis) a flat frequency response for the speaker’s voice, while showing a rolloff at low frequencies for all sound that originates from a greater distance. As a result, background sounds are picked up less strongly than the person speaking.

The capsule and amplifier of a CCM microphone are combined in one housing. K versions include a fixed cable with an XLR connector.

The P series

Schoeps offers special directional microphones and capsules for close pickup. Their reduction in low-frequency response compensates for proximity effect and helps to suppress both "popping" and ambient noise. Thus, P-series microphones can deliver broadcast quality even in loud arenas.

The microphones of the P series have a "P" in the product name. P means "proximity" and the corresponding low frequency attenuation. "XP" means a particularly strong low frequency attenuation. They are designed for close placement - "P"-types shouldn't be used at a distance of more than 20 cm, "XP"-types even closer than 10 cm.

The speech intelligibility is drastically enhanced by the compensation of the proximity effect as done in the P-series capsules. They are often used in fixed installations, or in the Schoeps HSC 4VP/4VXP headset.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0658/8848/5479/files/schoeps-ccm-4vxp-k_154174_1_60f52e53-fa30-440a-b8b1-8c5c0c8607be.jpg?v=1787094081
