schoeps-ccm-2s-k
Schoeps CCM 2S Kg Omnidirectional Compact Condenser Microphone

The Schoeps CCM 2S has proven particularly useful in two- and three-microphone stereo arrays, where its placement near the reverberation radius of the sound field presents a sonically balanced pickup favored by many recording engineers. This model has become our most popular pressure transducer.

For spaced microphone (A/B) stereo recording and especially the Decca Tree method, KA 40 accessory spheres are recommended.

The CCM 2S exhibits a slight high-frequency emphasis for frontal sound incidence, with only a slight rolloff of high frequencies off axis and in the reverberant sound field.

The frequency response characteristic of the CCM 2S falls between that of the CCM 2 and the CCM 2XS, making this microphone suitable for a wide range of applications.

Omnidirectional microphones can be considered sonically optimal if realized as true single-diaphragm systems – which is what Schoeps does. Their strengths include exceptionally linear frequency response with extended low-frequency response and a low noise floor (in the case of Schoeps - even as low as 11dB(A)). The various types of omni capsules differ in the amount of high-frequency boost, which compensates for the high-frequency roll-off in the diffuse field. Thus, omnidirectional microphones can be free- or diffuse-field equalized.

The capsule and amplifier of a CCM microphone are combined in one housing. K versions include a fixed cable with an XLR connector.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0658/8848/5479/files/schoeps-ccm-2s-k_154165_1_dff0223b-acc6-4359-8978-5a8fb906c5c1.jpg?v=1787094083
