Product Description
A classic returns! As part of their 10-year celebration, Make Noise have reintroduced the Quad Multi-Mode Gate — a powerful music synthesizer module used to add dynamic, evolving effects to synth sounds. This gorgeous Make Noise QMMG - Limited Edition 2018 reissue is functionally identical to the original QMMG — aside from a few simple upgrades like new analog mode-selection pots, reverse power protection, and a stunning black and gold design.
One of a Kind
QMMG is an all-analog, vintage-voiced music synthesizer module capable of creating unique synth sounds unlike anything else. Perfect for adding analog warmth and unique textures to your synth sounds, QMMG features four independent vactrol-based channels for creating rhythmic arps, pulsating pads and more. Each channel is capable of operating in multiple modes, including VCA, low-pass gate, low-pass filter, or high-pass filter.
Although each channel has the same set of controls, they do not feature the same sounds. As a vactrol-based device, QMMG relies on LEDs and light dependent resistors to process signals. These nonlinear components create unique sounds and voicings for each channel.
A Modern Classic
Based on the classic Buchla 292 Quad Low-Pass Gate, QMMG faithfully captures the quirky charm of the original, while introducing a number of new features. Create the perfect bass line by using the new HiPass mode. QMMG also introduces a powerful new voltage-controlled feedback circuit that acts differently depending on the selected mode.
Direct coupling and normalizations allow for more creative patching—use multiple channels to create bandpass gates, adjust filter slopes or create dual-peak filters. QMMG also features dedicated channel outputs for easy patching and a sum output for simple mixing.
Although low-pass gates like those originated by Buchla are a staple in West-Coast synthesis, QMMG is also cable of creating something similar to traditional synthesizer voice architecture.
One Is The Loneliest Number
MATHS was originally designed as a patch-buddy for the QMMG, and works especially well for generating synth sounds. For even more advanced patching capabilities, pair QMMG with the DPO dual oscillator module.
