The Antelope Audio Discrete 4 is a an audio interface featuring four console grade, six transistor, fully discrete microphone preamps with high quality conversion. The internal preamps can handle up to 121 dB of dynamic range, and with the use of FPGA FX, can be turned into authentic models of the industries top Tube, Transformer and discrete preamps.
It includes the premium upgrade pack for Antelope Discrete 4 which allows you to employ the full studio power of the Antelope Audio real-time FPGA FX. It also includes the AFX2DAW plug-in allowing you to access the Premium FX library in your favorite DAW.
The Antelope AFX platform is an ever expanding hardware modeling engine. Included with the Discrete 4 are a variety of preamp models, guitar amps, transformer and tube FX, and a huge selection of vintage EQ’s and compressors. All accessible within your DAW via the ConnectAFX plug-in.
Discrete 4 offers a total of 14 inputs and 20 outputs through its two ADAT connections and onboard S/PDIF connection. Right out of the box comes with four analog inputs that can accept mic or line level, four analog line outputs for monitoring and cue system setups, and two re-amp outputs to send any line level signal back through an amp or loudspeaker.
Premium Upgrade FX and AFX2DAW Included Free
The Discrete 4 Premium Upgrade FX pack allows you to use 4 channel strips with 4 FX instances each, which is twice what you get with the Basic FX pack. The Premium Upgrade FX library currently features over 50 Antelope Audio real-time FPGA FX, including Vintage EQs, Compressors, AuraVerb, Guitar Amps & Cabinet models. More units are constantly added with the regular software updates for the device.
AFX2DAW connects the best of both worlds by effectively amalgamating the industry acclaimed Antelope Audio FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) modeling engine with the advantages of the fast and intuitive DAW workflow. This convenience comes with near-zero latency and without burdening the CPU of the computer.
AFX2DAW enables users to employ the real-time FPGA FX power in their preferred DAW environment allowing them to spend their time focusing not on technicalities and routing but on writing and producing music instead.
Edge
The Antelope Audio Edge is a dual-capsule large diaphragm condenser modeling microphone to be used with the Antelope Discrete audio interfaces. With the use of Accusonic 3D modeling technology, you can transform this microphone into several vintage replicas. You have complete control over proximity effect, off-axis response, and even change the polar pattern during or after recording. With the use of the dual-capsule, you can blend two microphones together at once.
The FPGA modeling engine allows total customization of the microphone preamp, addition of vintage compressors and EQs, and effects that can all be monitored in real time with zero latency for a true hardware performance experience.
The unique design comes from attaching the electrical lead to the edge of the diaphragm rather than the center. This offers a much smoother and natural response and is the secret sound to many sought-after vintage microphones.
An included cable splits the signal into two outputs, which are perfectly matched and calibrated for the Accusonic preamps inside the Discrete audio interfaces. Models include the C12/C12VR, U47, U67, U87, M49, M149, UMB57, TLM103, C414m ELA M251, AK47, C800g, R122 and 4038.
Signals can be recorded with or without modeling, allowing the artist to still monitor these settings in real time, but leave flexibility to the engineer to reshape the sound later down the road in the mixing process using the AFX2DAW plug-in.
All settings can be controlled through the interface control panel, they can also be controlled or automated inside your DAW with the AFX2DAW plug-in. Complete channel strips and up to eight AFXs can be saved and recalled within your session. You can have as many mic models active as there are preamps available in your Antelope interface. Pair this the Edge with the Verge microphone to unlock an entire locker of vintage microphones.
