AKG K553 MKII Closed-Back Over-Ear Studio Headphones

Product Description

The AKG K553 MKII is a closed-back, over-ear studio headphone for monitoring, mixing, and mastering applications. The K553 MkII was designed to provide the perfect balance between the noise-isolating qualities of a closed-back headphone and the spacious, dimensional sound of an openback design. The 50 mm drivers provide a strong, yet accurate and distinguished bass response, as needed when monitoring and mastering contemporary music. The extra-large, soft ear pads ensure comfortable, stress-free listening for hours, and the 2D-axis mechanism enables flat folding for easy storage or handling when on the road. With its low-impedance drivers, the K553 MkII is sensitive enough to be used on laptops and mobile devices, making them ideal for travel or critical listening on any device. The soft high-quality detachable cable is equipped with a 3.5 mm (1/8") plug, with a screw-on adapter to 6.3 mm (1/4") also included.

LEGENDARY AKG SONIC PERFORMANCE

Building on a 70-year legacy of continual design innovation, AKG delivers unmatched sound quality and comfort. The K553 MkII represents the culmination of decades of refinement—from the transducers to the fit and finish.

CLOSED-BACK DESIGN, OPEN-BACK SOUND QUALITY

The K553 MkII was designed to provide the best of both worlds: a closed back design to provide noise isolation with an open and detailed soundstage normally attributed only to open-back headphone designs.

STUDIO SOUND ON THE GO

With a foldable design, the K553 MkII can be easily transported. The design minimizes the exposure to damage that comes with the demanding mobile lifestyles of musicians, producers, and audio engineers.

FULL, DETAILED SOUND

When you’re serious about your music, you’re looking for more than thumping bass in your headphones, you need nuanced low frequencies. The K553 MkII offers 50 mm transducers to create greater low-frequency extension and detailed bass reproduction, making it easier to hear the program material as intended.

BUILT TO LAST

After decades of the strictest product standards and most rigorous of testing regimens, quality has become synonymous with the AKG name—and these headphones are no exception. From intensive driver stress tests, to an 80,000 bend cycle for cables—even an exaggerated drop test—we put our headphone designs through the gauntlet so you can count on them for years to come. Additionally, the cable and ear pads are replaceable, further extending the life of your investment.
